As one of the project partners that helped develop the energy modelling for ReCover’s Atlantic Canada Deep Retrofit Roadmap, Baseline Energy Analytics (BEA) has published a case study exploring the methodology, findings, outcomes, and implications for deep retrofits across Atlantic Canada. The study examined 20 representative building archetypes across the four Atlantic provinces, testing different retrofit pathways to understand how building type, heating systems, and regional electricity grids affect energy and greenhouse gas reductions.
The modelling found that there is no single approach to achieving a deep retrofit, that energy savings do not always translate into equivalent carbon reductions, and that program design choices can significantly influence outcomes. These findings helped provide the quantitative foundation for the Roadmap and identify effective retrofit strategies for Atlantic Canada’s diverse building stock.
